The Bobber Ricky’s Bobber does more than a traditional bobber by allowing for longer casting, bottom fishing, line locating, and hook protection. This bobber’s heavier design allows it to maintain its position at the end of the line where the hook and bait are shielded. This single point of weight helps to keep the line straight and makes for a longer and smoother cast when fishing. The bullet shape helps deflect the bobber when being pulled by dividing debris or pushing the bobber to one side if it comes into contact with a solid object. The tapered shape prevents water from washing the bait off the hook and reduces drag when being pulled back in. This is due to the fact that the bait and hook are pulled inside the tapered cavity prior to seeing any water drag forces. By removing or unpinning the stopper above the bobber, bottom fishing can be performed without removing the bobber from the line. The bobber now acts as a line locator. The fishing line can remain on top of the water till it travels through the bobber and drop to the bottom of the lake. By removing the stopper, the bobber is now a buoy that locates the fishing line. When a fish takes the bait, the line becomes tight and pulls the bobber too, alarming the fisherman of a bite. When the hook and bait are reeled back in, the hook and bait are lifted by the float bobber as it travels back. The hook and bait are pulled back into the bobber shield area where it is then pulled across the top of the water, preventing the hook from being snagged on debris located on the bottom or top of the body of water. The hook guard bobber has a large tapered cavity to allow for the hook and bait to be protected when out of the water or while being pulled back in. This cavity is larger at the opening and smaller at the top, creating a taper or negative wall effect. This prevents side wall pressure created by the bait when its inside the cavity. This negative wall effect allows the bait and hook to drop out of the chamber when the bobber comes into contact with water. The bobber will float while the hook and bait are pulled out of the cavity by a weight sinker. This shape also helps to hold the bait on the hook when casting. The pressure from the bait against the side wall stops the bait from side motion forces and adds pressure to the bait to remain on the hook.
